In order to do his best to make Need for Speed director Rick Waugh’s dream come true of re-capturing the spirit of the car culture films of the 1960s and 1970s, star Aaron Paul headed to driving school. See, Waugh did not want to use any green screen or special effects on his film, as you can sense from the Need for Speed trailer. Audiences were going to witness his stars, including Dominic Cooper, behind the wheel and driving all sorts of fast and furious.
DreamWorks has released a video that takes us behind the process of Paul’s transformation from actor to racing marvel in order to capture the true sense of the Need for Speed that Waugh desired for his follow-up to Act of Valor.
Need for Speed follows Paul’s Tobey, who gets entangled with an old friend (Cooper) that results in one of his racing cohort's death. Tobey is blamed for the death and spends two years in jail. When he gets out, he has one thing on his mind: Revenge!
Need for Speed races into theaters March 14.
