It was revealed in that The Amazing Spider-Man 2 international trailer that Norman Osborn (played by Chris Cooper) is not in the best of health. So, it’s understandable that his prodigal son Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan) would return to help run the family business, Oscorp.
It just so happens that Harry is old friends with Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield), and as his alter ego, Spider-Man, is battling Oscorp, that means the two might find their friendship troubled in The Amazing Spider-Man 2. DeHaan is talking about what you can expect from his character and how he and Parker will handle their evolving friendship.
“When you first meet Harry he’s just graduated from high school, and he has to come back to New York to help deal with Oscorp, and its legacy, and his father (Norman). He also sees Peter Parker for the first time in a long time -- they were childhood friends,” DeHaan said to DigitalSpy.
“So it’s really about Harry having a friendship with Peter and an allegiance to Peter, but also being the heir apparent to Oscorp, and having to deal with that.”
As you can see from that The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Triptych poster, there are many villains coming at our hero, but they do share one thing in common… DeHaan reported.
“It’s becoming very obvious that all of these villains are originating from within Oscorp, in one way or the other,” he said. “There are things that Harry feels he owes Peter, and things he needs from Peter, there are things he feels he needs from Spider-Man, and then there’s his responsibility to Oscorp. It’s a very complicated storyline, really cool and dynamic.”
