300 director Zack Snyder, even though Noam Murro is directing, still has his visionary hand prints all over 300: Rise of an Empire.
In a behind-the-scenes featurette just released by Warner Bros., Snyder and his producing partners Deborah Snyder and Bernie Goldman give insight into this spectacle that they tease as a “companion piece,” rather than a sequel or prequel.
But, there is one theme that emerges from both sides of this war: Revenge.
The Greeks want revenge for the death of King Leonidas at the end of 300. Meanwhile, Eva Green’s Artemisia wants revenge for the death of her family as a young girl at the hand of the Greeks -- as she explains in the above video.
Murro and the filmmaking team also talk about Rodrigo Santoro and why he was a perfect person to tackle the otherworldly role of Xerxes and we even see how he comes to be in 300: Rise of an Empire.
To be honest, what was teased in that fantastic 300: Rise of an Empire trailer only scratches the surface. The above behind-the-scenes video delves even further and shoots our anticipation level for the film’s March 7 release through the roof.
Unlike 300: Rise of an Empire, that has done nothing but had demands on its return as a sequel since the first film debuted in 2006, check out the following that were neither wanted... or needed in hindsight!
