Sure, at this point the Star Wars: Episode VII casting rumors have to be taken with a grain of salt. But, most involve performers auditioning for roles in the J.J. Abrams-directed flick, such as Saoirse Ronan and Michael B. Jordan. But, what if Abrams called the actor, someone who doesn’t need an audition and is simply asked to be in the movie?
That happened! And it could not have been a better actor that was approached.
Gary Oldman admitted that the filmmakers behind Star Wars: Episode VII have approached him about a role in the film. What’s awesome is how the legendary actor responded to the reach out. “They called, yeah,” he said, almost flippantly to Sky News.
“I’m more cynical about it now. I believe it when I’m on the plane home. You know, the deal isn’t done until then. But yeah, they’ve inquired.”
We at Movie Fanatic would say this is as huge as the admission by Carrie Fisher that she, Harrison Ford and Mark Hamill are in the flick. Actors are not approached for a movie like Star Wars: Episode VII without it being serious business.
And besides, who says no to appearing in a Star Wars movie?
And while we’re on the topic, our favorite rumor that has to happen… Benedict Cumberbatch as a Sith Lord!
