Matthew McConaughey Explains Origins of “Alright, Alright, Alright”

by at .  Updated at . Comments

Would you believe that one of the most famous Dazed and Confused quotes was not even in the script?

You bet! The line “Alright, alright, alright” that has become synonymous with Matthew McConaughey over the decades was actually an off-the-cuff line that had come to the actor after listening to a live recording of Jim Morrison and the Doors!

A video interview with the actor from 2012 has been discovered where he chronicles how the iconic line came to be. It seems that McConaughey was not even supposed to be in the scene where the famous three words were uttered!

He explains its origins on a visit to a Canadian talk show hosted by George Stroumboulopoulos.

Some actors would shy away from a movie quote, for fear it would define them. But, McConaughey has embraced that trio of “Alrights” and even uttered it in his Oscar acceptance speech for best actor!

Why not remind yourself of how amazing the movie is, and watch Dazed and Confused online.
