Walt Disney has released two new clips from Maleficent, as well as a featurette that looks at the filming of one of the pivotal battle scenes. Robert Stromberg directs star Angelina Jolie, who could not have been more perfectly cast as the live action version of the iconic Sleeping Beauty villain.
This origins story is also in many ways a reimagining of the fairy tale and it also features another who is perfectly cast, Elle Fanning as Aurora, aka Sleeping Beauty.
The first of our clips (following that previously released awesome Maleficent "Awkward" clip) features Jolie soaring into the clouds as her fairy did have wings at one point.
How she lost them is what truly drives our story and the conflict at the heart of that fateful prick that will put Aurora to sleep.
The second clip is utterly delightful and further shows why both actresses put on an acting clinic in the film that lands May 30.
It is called Fairy Godmother and it shows that as Maleficent has been shadowing Aurora throughout her years, that the young girl believes that instead of a menacing force, she thinks that Maleficent is her… Godmother!
Lastly, we have a behind-the-scenes clip that shows Stromberg directing Jolie on the fields that will serve as the site of a fateful battle that will send our story into high gear.
Maleficent also stars Sharlto Copley and Sam Riley. Stay with Movie Fanatic as we spoke with the entire cast and director and will unveil all our interviews next week!
