Bad Robot, J.J. Abrams’ production company, took to its Twitter account and posted the below photo of an IMAX camera panning the Abu Dhabi desert, which of course we know will double as Tatooine in Star Wars: Episode VII! The only comment posted was... @bestformatever, of course referring to IMAX.
It’s our first glance at Tatooine, which fans know is the home of Luke Skywalker (and also his father Anakin). For George Lucas, it was Morocco that doubled as the home planet, but Abrams found the Abu Dhabi filming locations more suitable. And with the shoot utilizing IMAX cameras, we have a feeling it will look spectacular.
Filming is underway for Star Wars: Episode VII as the production now heads to London. And yes, there will be a two week break soon while Harrison Ford recovers from a broken leg.
This picture comes just days after the announcement of two new actors joining the series, Crystal Clarke and Pip Anderson.
Look for Star Wars: Episode VII in theaters December 18, 2015. And is it us, or is this the most anticipated movie in, like, thirty years?!
