The first trailer for the next directorial feature for Angelina Jolie, Unbroken, has premiered. The stunning teaser gives us just a glimpse into the powerful life of real-life hero Louis “Louie” Zamperini (Jack O’Connell).
Zamperini struggled as he grew up fighting his own internal battle between good and bad. When he found track and field, he had found his voice and his purpose. He would go on to become a gold medal-winning Olympian and become the hero of a nation.
When World War II arrived, he signed up and became an airman who would be shot down in the Pacific. He and his fellow crew would spend 47 days in a raft and somehow miraculously survive. They would be rescued, but by the Japanese. He would then spend years in a Japanese prison camp.
This story is beyond powerful and frankly it’s hard to believe it hasn’t been brought to life before now. But, judging by the above trailer, we are beyond thrilled that it is Jolie that is telling his story as this thing has Oscar written all over it.
Unbroken lands in theaters December 25. Sadly, Zamperini passed away at 97 just last week.
And Jolie, boy, is she on a roll of late. Her Maleficent became her highest grossing movie in her career!
