That Vacation reboot, aka sequel, is gaining some momentum with news that Chris Hemsworth (Thor: The Dark World) and Charlie Day have joined the cast of the Ed Helms-starring flick.
Helms is set to play Rusty Griswold all grown up in the film that picks up years after the last Chevy Chase-starring comedy. Helms’ Rusty is set to take his own family on a vacation and finds many of the problems (i.e. humor) that his father had in the first series of films.
This is not a true reboot as it carries on from the last Vacation film, but in some ways it is because it is setting the franchise up anew.
When we exclusively spoke to John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein, the writers-directors explained that the film could not have a better lead in Helms and that audiences are more than ready to venture down another Holiday Road.
Chase and Beverly D’Angelo are signed to make cameos, and look for Hemsworth to play the husband of Rusty’s sister Audrey while Day will play a “rafting guide.”
