Hansel & Gretel Witch Hunters was a pretty decent-sized success for Paramount, so it’s been kind of interesting that there has been little to no sequel talk for the film.
The film starred Jeremy Renner and Gemma Arterton as the title characters who have more than survived that horrible witch’s house as kids in the famous fairy tale and have grown up to become some of the most vicious witch killers in the land.
But, it appears that someone who has been thinking about the sequel is the writer-director of the first film, Tommy Wirkola. He has turned in a script to Paramount for Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters 2 and talked to our friends at ShockTillYouDrop.com about it.
"I've given it to Paramount and it's up to them now. But I don't know what's going to happen,” Wirkola said.
“Jeremy [Renner] is so busy these days (he has Kill the Messenger coming in October, and has finished Avengers: Age of Ultron and is currently filming Mission Impossible 5), I don't know how they're going to juggle all of that, but it's up to [Paramount]."
So what is Renner’s reaction to the news? "I don't have any problem with it,” he told CinemaBlend. “It was a lot of fun. It was fun to do that movie, and just have a ball!”
