Jennifer Lawrence Enters Guinness Book of World Records: What For?

by at .  Updated at . Comments

Of all the accolades that Jennifer Lawrence has earned in her (relatively) short career, entering the Guinness Book of World Records might be up there for her. Word has arrived that with the 2015 edition of the book that chronicles the best and most of everything, Lawrence will enter as the highest-grossing action heroine the “world has ever known.”

Katniss Catching Fire

Sure, getting an Oscar nomination for her first big role in Winter’s Bone was nice. Winning an Oscar for Silver Linings Playbook was even better, and scoring her third nomination for American Hustle had to feel good.

But it’s her work on The Hunger Games films that has put her in the Guinness Book of World Records. And might we add, she’s only had two of those films (out of four) come out! So, by the time Mockingjay Part 1 and Part 2 come out, no one should be able to (financially) touch her as an action movie heroine for some time.

When The Hunger Games was done with its cinematic run, it had banked $691 million in global gross. Catching Fire arrived a year later and upped the ante to the tune of $864 million in international ticket sales.

That alone was enough to push her past some of the female action heroines of the past, such as Sigourney Weaver for her work on the Alien movies, Angelina Jolie and her work on Tomb Raider and Mr. and Mrs. Smith and Linda Hamilton and her two Terminator movies.

Mockingjay Part 1 lands November 21, and until then, check out Lawrence’s work that put her in the record books and watch The Hunger Games online and watch Catching Fire online.

And witness Lawrence ready to rock in the third installment in the slideshow below!
