Sides must be chosen in the first TV trailer for Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies. The teaser is the first TV commercial for the final installment of The Hobbit trilogy, which lands in theaters December 17.

This short spot lands within days of that final The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies trailer that truly blew us away. People love these movies, but there are some who are detractors. But, you have to admit, no one makes teaser trailers like Jackson for his Middle Earth movies. They are epics unto themselves!

We’ve been told that the final 45 minutes of the movie is a battle scene that will make the one that concluded Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King look like child’s play. And we cannot wait. Jackson is king of enormous scope and it appears that there is no bigger canvas for him to paint on than in The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies.

It is also an all-star cast, led by Martin Freeman as Bilbo and Ian McKellen as Gandalf. They are joined by Cate Blanchett, Richard Armitage, Lee Pace, Luke Evans, Evangeline Lilly, Benedict Cumberbatch, Ian Holm, Christopher Lee, Orlando Bloom and Hugo Weaving.
