We all know that Star Wars: The Force Awakens finished shooting and of course we are still watching that Star Wars: The Force Awakens teaser trailer on repeat. But, what you might not know about the seventh Star Wars film is that it also was a vehicle to raise money for charity.
Specifically, J.J. Abrams sought to raise awareness and funds for UNICEF programs, and by connecting it to his film, and using the word “Force,” he truly struck a chord.
The program released a “thank you” video today with a ton of crew members and a few iconic characters giving thanks for the $5 million that has been raised to help fund what UNICEF does all over the globe.
Star Wars: The Force Awakens hits theaters December 18 and brings back Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Peter Mayhew and Anthony Daniels.
