Top 11 Highest Grossing Films of 2014: Who’s Number One?

The top 11 movies of 2014, in terms of domestic gross, are an interesting bunch.

Sure, only one is an original idea, and it is based on an iconic toy -- check it out when you watch The LEGO Movie online.

We do love our comic book movies. Five of the top 11 are based on comics, but one truly (pleasantly) surprised us with those Guardians of the Galaxy quotes.

Could it be the number one movie of the year? Likely, but who else makes the list?

There is a film that made the top 11 that is perceived as a failure, and that we just don’t get. Another put Angelina Jolie in horns and shocked the world (watch Maleficent online), and those damn dirty apes are just bathing in our box office cash.
