With the news that Spider-Man has joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe, attention now turns to who will be the next webbed wonder.

Theories abound, and we have our opinions as to the actors that would be perfect to tackle the dual personalities of Peter Parker and Spider-Man. But, it depends which direction filmmakers want to go.

As Kevin Feige and Amy Pascal oversee the next chapter of the Spider-Man cinematic story, do they want to go young or old(er)? That produces a whole diverse list of performers that could easily tackle the role.

Watch The Fault in our Stars online and there’s a guy we think would be a perfect Spider-Man. That guy could play a middle ground of not a teenager (thus no origins story… again!), but not quite the age of the other Avengers.

Then again, watch Dawn of the Planet of the Apes online, and if they wanted to go teenager (plus no more origins story), that young star has heroic written all over his adorable face.

We also present a couple of truly out of the box ideas that we are confident could work.

So, who could be Spider-Man?
