BAFTA Awards: Boyhood Wins Best Picture!
by Joel D Amos at . Updated at . CommentsThe BAFTA Awards have been given out in London and the English equivalent of the Academy Awards still thinks that Boyhood is the Best Picture. The Richard Linklater film took top honors at the annual fete and even though it seems like Birdman is creeping up on Boyhood for the U.S. award, Boyhood got a shot in the arm with the BAFTA victory.
Linklater took home the honors for Best Director, further enhancing his chances for a victory in that category come Oscar night on February 22.
What’s fascinating is that The Imitation Game, as British of a film as is made, was completely shut out of the BAFTAs. It did not earn one single award!
Going into the awards show, The Grand Budapest Hotel led all nominees (just like they have with our Oscar nominations). It would also leave the award show with the most victories at the BAFTAs, including scores for Best Original Screenplay for Wes Anderson, and salutations for Best Costumes, Best Production Design, Hair & Makeup and the film’s score.
