The highly anticipated first trailer for Jem and the Holograms is finally here! The '80s animated series is coming to life from Jon M. Chu (G.I. Joe: Retaliation, Never Say Never) and Blumhouse Productions.

Since the film version of the pop culture icon was announced, fans have been eager to see what filmmakers do with their beloved story of the girl group that becomes an international sensation. And it appears that Chu and his team have taken the “cost of fame” route to the big screen version of Jem and the Holograms.

Their story starts as four sisters in a small town who find unexpected fame when a song of the oldest becomes a YouTube sensation. Juliette Lewis stars as a record executive who brings them to LA and gives them complete makeovers, even their names!

Aubrey Peeples stars as Jem, with Stefanie Scott appearing as Kimber, Aurora Perrineau is Shana and Hayley Kiyoko is Aja. Ryan Guzman (The Boy Next Door) scored the role of Rio and Molly Ringwald is the group’s mother.

Look for Jem and the Holograms in theaters October 23.
