John Candy was a Canadian comedian and actor that was born in Toronto. John Candy had many small parts in the lates 70s and early 80s, but it was really his role as Tom Hank's brother in the 1984 Splash that's considered his breakthrough role. After that, Candy co-starred in roles in Spaceballs, Planes, Trains & Automobiles, The Great Outdoors, Uncle Buck, and Michael Moore's finest work, Canadian Bacon.
John Candy tragically died on location in Durango, Mexico while filming Wagons East! in 1994. He died of a heart attack much like his father and grandfather. Candy was survived by his wife, Rosemary, and their children Jennifer and Christopher.
