Steve Carell was born in Acton, Massachusettes and originally wanted to be a radio broadcaster. However, Carell soon switched to acting and joined the Chicago troupe The Second City in 1991, where Stephen Colbert was his understudy.
In 1996 he joined the cast of the ill-fated The Dana Carvey Show and then in 1997 lent his voice to the popular SNL animated skit The Ambigulously Gay Duo alongside Stephen Colbert. However, it was his role as a correspondent on The Daily Show from 1999 to 2004 that would lead him to mainstream success.
While on the Daily Show, Carrel began his film career with roles in Evan Almighty and eventually writing and starring in The 40 Year Old Virgin.
With his new found success, Carrel got the lead in NBC's remake of the British television show, The Office.
Since then Carrel has become a regular Hollywood A-lister and is even considered a member of Hollywood's Frat Pack.
In his personal life, Carell is married to Nancy Walls and they have two children together, Elisabeth Anne and John.
