Mel Gibson was born in Peekskill, New York and was raised in Sydney, Australia since he was twelve.

Gibson started his career in Australian films including the movie that would launch his career, Max Max in 1979.  Gibson's career in Hollywood would quickly explode with roles in the 80s including Lethal Weapon, Bird on a Wire, and Hamlet.  

In the 90s, Gibson continued to star in blockbusters including Forever Young, Lethal Weapon 3, Ransom, and Payback.  Additionally, Gibson began directing with movies such as Braveheart.

In the 2000s, Gibson's acting has began to slow down and he has moved behind the camera.  Though the A-lister still starred in productions as big as Signs.
