11 Super Bowl Movie Trailers We Want To See

by at .  Updated at . Comments

The Super Bowl commercial, specifically the Super Bowl movie trailer, is an advertising institution. Sure it costs millions of dollars, but it has the potential to pay off exponentially.

There are a bevy of potential blockbusters coming at us in 2015 and what better landscape than the biggest television event of the year to tease upcoming films.

We found 11 movies that we expect to see a movie trailer for during the game that decides the NFL champ, whether it's New England or Seattle.

Click through and see our 11 Super Bowl movie trailers we want to see.

1. Furious 7

Furious 7
The ultimate bone crunching sport's biggest event is a fitting spot for the bone crunching action of Furious 7 to be teased to the widest audience that gathers in front of the tube. Not that Furious 7 needs any introduction to the masses, but we just think that this Universal film and the Super Bowl are a match made in heaven.

2. Pitch Perfect 2

Pitch Perfect 2
Pitch Perfect 2 appears to be a weird fit for a Super Bowl commercial, but judging by how many NFL players have taped videos on the set of the a cappella sequel, we’re guessing that will lead to some sort of Super Bowl commercial. And given that the summer movie has only given us one true trailer, it’s time for another.

3. San Andreas

San Andreas
Could we see two Dwayne Johnson trailers during the big game? Sure, why not, as the former footballer is even more popular as an action star than he ever was as a football star. And the world needs to know about his California earthquake 3D action fest that finds him trying to save the day, when nothing but destruction surrounds him.

4. Entourage

When Entourage was on HBO, it often featured an intermingling of sports stars, movie stars (of course) and our favorite foursome. So, why not roll out a full length trailer to the TV show’s first leap to the big screen? And who couldn’t use a little Jeremy Piven yelling at someone during the battle between the NFC champ and the AFC champ?

5. Ted 2

Ted 2
We all know that Mark Wahlberg is a huge Patriots fan and given that Ted (and thus Ted 2) takes place in Boston, doesn’t it seem perfect for Ted 2 to have its first trailer land during the Super Bowl that features Boston’s favorite football team? And also, history has shown that besides action movies, comedies that score that perfect LOL trailer do really well after a big splash at the big game.

6. Magic Mike XXL

Magic Mike XXL
Studies have shown that as many, if not more, women watch the Super Bowl than men. So, talk about a captive audience of hundreds of millions across the globe! It’s time to roll out that Magic Mike XXL trailer and show off some Channing Tatum, Joe Manganiello and former NFLer Michael Strahan in his big screen debut.
