Dave Chappelle was born and raised in Washington, D.C. where he attened the renowned performing arts high school, Duke Ellington School of the Arts.  After graduating, Chappelle moved to New York City to start his career as a comedian.  Chappelle started off doing stand-up comedy at the Apollo and soon found himself becoming famous on the New York City comedy circuit.

As an actor, Chappelle soon make his big screen debut in Mel Brooks' Robin Hood: Men in Tights at the age only 20.  Soon after, Chappelle and his friend Jim Bruer were guest stars on Home Improvement.  The two did such a fantastic job they were offered their own series, Buddies, which was canceled after four episodes.

Chappelle would return again to the big screen with roles in The Nutty Professor, Con Air, You've Got Mail Blue Streak, and, of course, his cult classic Half Baked, which he co-wrote.

However, Dave Chappelle's true stardom came in 2003 with his sketch comedy show, Chappell's Show.  After an incredibly popular three seasons, Chappelle left the show due to, let's just call them, "creative differences."
